Title: Archangel’s Resurrection
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Guild Hunter #15
Pages: 396

This book is about Archangel’s Alexander and Zanaya relationship from the very beginning to after the Cascade and war. While I like that we are finally getting their story, I think this one just didn’t work for me.
This book starts by jumping back in time and giving us Alexander’s and Zanaya’s history starting with their childhood. While I can see how some people would enjoy this, I struggled with this very slow way to start, especially after reading the previous 14 books. For me the story really didn’t get to be enjoyable until about 65% through when the Cascade and the war was happening.
Another big issue for me is that these two spent over a thousand years apart because Alexander wanted to give her time to grow up, in angel years at least, which I am ok with. But when they finally decided to be together, after only speaking twice previously, they just jumped right in with no build up or actual wooing. It was very much an instant love situation, but without any real emotional build up. After that their relationship was a long string of being in love with each other but then breaking it off because they both refused to compromise. This goes on for thousands of years until Zanaya sleeps. These two are thousands of years old and they are acting like teenagers who refuse to have an actual conversation about how to make their relationship work. Their relationship basically felt toxic and stayed that way until Zanaya rose again after the war. Then they finally got their shit together and actually talked and made compromises.
There were some brief updates about the reborn and the archangel Antonicus. It was an interesting development after what happened to him. I did enjoy this part of the story but that can’t make up for the rest of it. This is the first Singh book that I have not really enjoyed but I will continue reading this series because overall, it’s a good series. But Alexander and Zanaya’s story just didn’t really work for me.
Trigger warnings: toxic relationship; death of children; experimentation on humans and animals; PTSD; stillbirth briefly mentioned;

This is an awesome cover but it’s too bad the story didn’t work for you. Every time I see this author’s books I want to read them but then I see how many there are in the series and I get intimidated. Maybe one day… 😂 Great review!

Yeah they are long series but I enjoy them overall. I prefer the Psy-Changeling series over the Guild Hunter but they are both good.
