4 stars – It was really good

This book is set in the Intersolar Union universe but set 40 years after the events of Convergence (Intersolar Union #1), when contact is finally being made with Earth.

One year ago, aliens parked in orbit around Earth and upended life as we know it. Now the integration program is starting and Lettie Gallardo is surprised when her application is selected because she is jobless and six months pregnant. Now she has been assigned to work with Kalaenus Lokurian, a large and mean-looking venandi with red eyes, who isn’t as scary as his appearance would make you believe.

This was adorable. Kal may be a dangerous venandi, but he is also just an anxious cinnamon roll of a man who is just trying his best. I really loved him and how he instantly started taking care of Lettie and learning everything he could about pregnancy, babies, and humans. Lettie was a sweet woman who went through a horrible experience but isn’t letting that ruin her life.

These two had a fast paced relationship and they fell hard for each other quickly. I enjoyed their relationship and how it was paced and how it blended well with everything else they were doing for the Integration Program. I think my only complaint about the relationship aspect of this is we never find out what happened with Letti’s ex and his stalking of her.

Overall, this was another fantastic book in this universe. I love this world so much and can’t get enough of all the couples within it. I can’t wait to read more stories about Earth’s integration!

TW: pregnancy; stalking; physical assault; workplace sexual assault referenced; PTSD; human trafficking mentioned;
