3.5 stars – I Liked It

Naomi is a werewolf with no wolf. Rowan is a vampire who never fits in with the coven. They are both lonely and tired of not having any connections so they decide to try a human dating app. The app throws them together and the sparks seem to be there, but will they get through their first date?

This was a slow building romance that was really sweet. Rowan and Naomi are misfits in their paranormal communities and they find a lot of connection with each other because of it. I really enjoyed how these two slowly got to know each other and work through their traumas together. They learned to lean on each other and stand up for themselves as they became more confident in themselves. They were both great characters and I really enjoyed seeing them slowly fall for each other.

My favorite aspect about this book was the sense of community Rowan and Naomi end up building after they realized there were more people like them in this world. I love when we have a couple who see a need in their community and try to help or fix it, and I think Rowan and Naomi succeeded at that.

My biggest complaint about this book was probably the ending, not because I didn’t like it, but because it kept dragging on with multiple time skips. I felt like the epilogue was unnecessary because it didn’t provide any extra context to their relationship that wasn’t better portrayed in the previous time skips. Basically I liked it more without the epilogue.

Overall, this was just a really great story about misfits building a community of liked minded people and finding love.

TW: death of family mentioned; toxic family; bullying; ableism; burns; allergic reaction;
