Title: Hunter of Demons
Author: Jordan L. Hawk
Series: SPECR #1
Pages: 138

What a fantastic and interesting start to a series! As an unregistered paranormal Caleb Jansen has been hiding his abilities so the last thing he needed was to be possessed by the spirit of an ancient vampire or to be taken into custody of a SPECTR agent. When an exorcism fails to remove the vampire spirit, Caleb finds himself trying to adapt to his new life, and his growing attraction to SPECTR agent John Starkweather.
From the beginning, I was hooked on what was happening in this world. Caleb was a snarky guy who has a lot of walls up from keeping his ability hidden. I really enjoyed learning about what was going on from his perspective, especially as he was dealing with the sentient being named Gray inside him and his growing feelings for John. It was all just a great mixture of danger, suspense, and budding romance.
This was a unique world with paranormals who unfortunately have to be registered and monitored by SPECTR, an organization that enforces paranormals and takes out those who go rogue. So far, I am really fascinated by this world and what has been revealed about it so far. I am especially interested in learning about all the different paranormals and how they are portrayed in this one.
Overall, a fantastic start to a series and I am really looking forward to reading more. I can’t wait to see how this plays out, especially since this does end in a soft cliffhanger.
