4 stars – It was really good

Cash-strapped Harry Tremayne reluctantly accepts five thousand pounds to locate Lady Hester Morden in Egypt. He knows she is a headstrong map maker who is constantly at the center of chaos. So when he finds her, he shouldn’t be surprised that they end up with a cursed necklace and a chase across Egypt into France to prevent it from ending up in Napoleon’s hands.

This was a fantastic historical romance! I devoured this book. From the beginning I was hooked on Hester and Harry’s story and their wild adventure through Egypt and France. This had wonderful banter, a bit of a hate to love situation, intense pinning for each other, and interesting travels. It really reminded me of The Mummy with its banter, themes, and romance, so of course I loved this.

For how short this book was, it felt like a full story. I enjoyed it all. I think my only complaint was that I wanted to see Hester finishing her uncle’s map of Upper Egypt in the epilogue since that got cut short by the necklace being stolen, but I still enjoyed the epilogue. Overall, this was just a fantastic historical romance and I want to read more like this!

TW: mentions of military service and war; animal deaths mentioned; Egyptian artifacts and mummies being looted by other countries;
