4 stars – It was really good

When Jolene finds herself losing her horse and her home all in the same afternoon, she becomes desperate, especially since she is pregnant and due very soon. She makes the decision to go to Zabria Prinar One to be a mail order bride for one of the cowboys. Unfortunately she doesn’t go through the legal channels to get there and finds herself stranded in a field and then attacked by an angry alien bull.

I have been eager to read Zohro’s book since he was introduced and refused to participate in the bride program. He clearly was dealing with a lot but also it was clear he actually wanted a woman of his own, he was just being stubborn. Zohro was a character that I almost instantly fell in love with. As soon as he thought about ways of getting Jolene to marry him, I was all in for this couple.

Zohro was a child prodigy and successful doctor on his home planet, but letting a man die caused him to be exiled. I really felt for Zohro and his struggle with being stranded and it really made me understand why he was so angry all the time in the previous books. Zohro ended up being such a cinnamon roll who instantly fell for Jolene and was determined to protect her, and then her child. I just loved how he instantly was all in and how he stood up against her father.

Jolene was a woman who was determined to live her life to the fullest, even if it gets her in trouble sometimes. She also is a bit impulsive, which leads her to landing on the planet illegally and abandoned in a field. I liked the contrast between her sunshine, do what you love personality and Zohro’s grumpy one. Also for a book that was almost all about a pregnancy, I love that the building relationship between these two still felt like the main focus of the book.

Zohro and Jolene’s relationship was very sweet and cute. I loved how they both fell so hard for each other but didn’t know how to admit that. They both think they are just doing this out of obligation and are trying so hard to win the other over. It was all just adorable. I really love how clueless all the alien men in this world seem to be about women. Basically I loved these two and their relationship. Also the pajamas naming is ridiculous and hilarious. I love how outlandish the names are becoming.

Overall, this was another fantastic book for the series. I really love this world and these alien men. I can’t wait to see who will fall in love next and what kind of woman they end up with.

TW: Pregnancy and traumatic childbirth leading to c-section; postpartum mental health (light depression and feelings of loss of identity and sadness); death of mother in childbirth mentioned; brief homelessness after being kicked out for being pregnant;
