3 stars – I liked it

Nala Dixon is on her way home for Christmas but unfortunately, she is being followed by a group of vampires. When they corner her she plans to fight, but an unexpected old friend comes to her rescue. Harrison is the sasquatch she has secretly dreamed about for years and now she might finally get a chance to do something about it, if she can survive the vampires.

Harrison the sasquatch was introduced to us briefly in the story Friend or Foe in the Desert Wolf anthology. After that incident, Harrison left the pack and roamed the forest like sasquatches do. This book was my first cryptid book years ago so I have a soft place in my heart for Harrison. Harrison has definitely grown up and seems to be the perfect partner for Nala.

Nala Dixon, Lana’s younger sister, was a competent and fierce wolf. I liked that she fought for what she wanted and was determined to have a chance with Harrison this time. Their relationship was very fast and spent mostly on the run from the vampires. While we get the brief epilogue with them as a couple for Christmas, I wish we had seen a bit more of their relationship when there wasn’t danger.

Overall, this was a great Christmas novella. I would love to read more about the sasquatch shifters in this world because they seem like an interesting bunch.

TW: stalking; violence, injuries, and blood.
