Savannah Dupree is a freshman studying at Boston University. She also has the remarkable ability of psychometry, which puts her life in danger after she touches an old sword that shows her a terrible death and that vampires are real. 

This was a short, action packed novella that shows how Gideon and Savannah found each other. Gideon is a dangerous warrior but he turns into a sweet and affectionate man around Savannah. It was quite adorable. Savannah is a smart woman with  a fascinating ability. These two were very enjoyable characters who had a quick and intense attraction. 

While this novella is considered a novella, it only goes over the basics of the Breed and this world. These two do play important roles in the rest of the series though so it was nice to see their initial meeting. Also I enjoyed seeing Gideon out in the field destroying rogues.
