I am so happy that we get more books (and series) with Caleb, Gray, and John because I was so not ready to let this couple go! This book starts Series 2 off with a bang and of course, new kinds of paranormals to deal with.
John, Caleb, and Gray are now an established couple and we really get to see how they support each other in this. John is struggling with all the changes that have happened with SPECTR since they defeated Forsythe and the other Drakul. He is no longer the golden agent and the majority of people, including his new boss, don’t trust him or Caleb. Caleb and Gray do everything they can to support John through these changes and are there for him when times get tough. I really just love the dynamic of their relationship and how we see they continue to grow stronger as a couple as this series progresses.
This was a fascinating and action packed case. It involved a being who can take hearts out of bodies without leaving a trace, which was a fascinating concept for a paranormal. John also gets a new partner in this one and I really liked Agent Zahira Noorzai. She was a surprise, but I really like her and hope she sticks around in this series. Also I love how accepting she was of Gray and everything she learns about what happened.
Overall, this was a fantastic start to this series. I am really excited to see where this series will lead these guys.
