4 stars out of five
4 stars – It was really good

This series is one I really enjoy and since the author has finally got her rights back and is able to rerelease these, I figured it was a great time for a reread with each new release. The story is mostly the same as the original release, but she has added the original first chapter and done some light edits to this book.

Dr. Eos Rai has spent a lifetime searching for the long-lost Mona Lisa. When she uncovers evidence of Star’s End, the last known location of the masterpiece, she has to turn to the notorious treasure hunting Phoenix brothers to find it, even if it goes against everything she believes in.

This was a wonderful, action packed adventure set in space. I liked Dathan when he was young in Among Galactic Ruins, and now older Dathan is just as arrogant and determined as he was then, just more experienced now. I really enjoyed watching him fall in love and struggle with his feelings.

“Every adventure I’ve ever had pales in comparison to you.”

Eos was a wonderful heroine. She was smart, courageous, and really dedicated to her work of preserving history. I found her markings to be interesting and I like that we are seeing more of the different types of life in this world, even if they still all seem humanoid.

I think my favorite thing about this series is the artifacts. It is fascinating to see normal Terran (Earth) things being famous pieces of history, like a watch. Anna Hackett always does an amazing job at creating wonderful worlds filled with great characters, and great treasure hunts. I look forward to reading the next one now!
