2025 is finally over and that means its time for a wrap up of my reading year. I am also going to recap my reading goals from last year, which I didn’t actually post publicly this year. Also as a bonus, I include my favorite movies and anime of the year.
2025 Goals Revisit
- Read 400 books.
- I completed this one, even with it being a really hard reading year for me.
- Read 35% of my TBR.
- I didn’t actually get to 35, but I got to 26% which was pretty good considering I started the year at 19%. I probably got closer to 30% with DNF books though.
- Post at least three times a month on Instagram.
- I succeeded at this for the most part. There was a few months where I only posted twice, but I was dealing with a lot this year which made it harder to feel motivated about posting. On top of the fact that barely anyone sees/interacts with my posts.
- Participate in different reading challenges this year.
- I participated in quite a few different challenges this year. I did the 52 Book Club, 100 Graphics in 2025, 2025 Audiobook Challenge, 50 nonfiction books in a year, and some monthly/seasonal bingos that I found on Instagram. I also joined my first book club this year and it has been a really fun experience.
2025 Reading Stats
I read 429 books this year, which is about 100 less than I read last year, but I also had an extremely stressful year with the house fire, personal sickness, and a sick cat. I was better this year about DNF though so I am hopeful I continue to learn what makes me not enjoy a book so I can DNF faster.
- New: 248
- Re-reads: 188
- DNF: 23
Formats:
In 2025, I read mostly eBooks, which is my main format, and for the third year in a row audiobooks come in second. Then Manga and Graphic Novels, which could have been under eBooks since I read these almost exclusively in e-format but I like to track them separately.
- eBook: 233
- Audiobook: 118
- Graphic Novels: 34
- Manga: 30
- Bonus Shorts: 14
- Hardcover: 3
- Webcomic: 1
- Paperback: 1
Pages:
This year I read 80,596 pages! I initially wanted to hit 100,000 pages but I knew by the middle of the year that wasn’t going to happen so I switched it to 80,000.
Listening Time:
In 2025, I set my listening goal to 1000 hours. I surpassed that by quite a lot with 1,233 hours and 25 minutes of audiobooks listened to.
Most Read Authors:
I was not surprised by who my top authors this year were because quite a few of them were favorite authors that I was comfort reading, but I also had a few new/newish authors that I ended up reading a lot of two.
- Anna Hackett – 57
- Lynsay Sands – 37
- Hailey Turner – 25
- C. Rochelle – 17
- Alice Winters – 15
- Lily Mayne – 14
- Anna Lowe – 14
- Jennifer Estep – 14
- Jim Butcher – 10
- Chugong – 9
New Favorite Authors:
Some new favorite authors for me this year were C. Rochelle, Zoe Ashwood, Fae Quin, Rachel Reid, Akira Sugito, and Hirohiko Araki.
Most Read Genres:
Again, I was not surprised by my most read genre’s this year because it was my favorite genre: paranormal romance. That was followed by LGBTQIA, Sci-Fi, Nonfiction, and Fantasy.
Favorite Movies:

While I watched a lot of movies this year, I found that I didn’t end up loving a lot of the new movies I watched so this ended up being an easy choice for top six.
- Bring Her Back
- Predator: Bandlands
- Superman
- Sinners
- Heart Eyes
- Frankenstein
Favorite Shows/Anime:

This year I watched a lot of anime and a few TV shows. So here were my six favorites.
- Bob’s Burgers (all seasons)
- One Piece: Egghead ARC
- My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 1
- Severance Season 1 and 2
- To Be Hero X Season 1
- Creature Commandos Season 1
I’m applauding your reading goal! 400 books! I wasn’t even that close when I was in graduate school! EXCELLENT JOB!!!
As for the anime films you watched, were they good? I’m a teen librarian and I need to make sure the media (and the books) we order are good and appropriate.

The anime I watched were seasons, not films. I would look up their ratings to determined if they were appropriate for teens. To Be Hero X is a bit violent so I am not sure about it. My Hero Academia Vigilantes and One Piece are good for teens though.

I’m going to look into, “To Be Hero X.”
