4 stars – It was really good

Hiro and Maddox have a new case involving a serial killer. Unfortunately they quickly realize that the serial killer can also see the dead and is determined to make them play a game to stop them. The more they uncover, the more danger and secrets they keep uncovering but Hiro is determined to stop them before another person can die.

This was another action packed and captivating case for Hiro and Maddox. I really was hooked from the very beginning and flew through this book as they uncovered all the secrets of this serial killer. This whole case was really interesting because the killer was caught almost right away but is still causing people to die, so it’s a mystery that Hiro is determined to uncover, especially since the killer can see ghosts too. I loved the whole concept of this villain and how this case went. Also I like that we are seeing Hiro’s confidence in his abilities continue to grow, even if he still struggles with his ability to help the police.

Maddox and Hiro’s relationship continues to grow stronger with every book. I have really grown to love these two and their ragged band of misfit ghosts. In this one we finally learn a little about Natalie and what happened to her, which it was about time. I will be very curious to see if any of these ghosts will crossover in this series or if they will continue to hang out with Hiro and Maddox for years to come.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next case with these two. I will be curious to see if Reggie and Keaton will continue to circle each other or will finally become a couple.

TW: murder; suicide; gun violence and injuries; near death experience; grief;
