3 stars out of 5
3 stars – I liked it

This book picks up shortly after the first book ended. Mina is cleaning up the chateau while the boys are out on another mission. But when they come back Marius is not with him because he has determined to keep his distance out of fear for Mina’s safety. This doesn’t work for long though because Mina is pulled back into danger by Gordon.

While I liked this book and the couple, I struggled with the first half of the book because not a lot happens and the couple isn’t together for the majority of it. The second half of the book was more enjoyable because the couple was together and all the boys were working together on a new assignment.

Mina and Marius are clearly mates but with the danger surrounding Marius, he attempts to keep Mina at a distance. While that works for a while, we quickly see Mina grow tired of it and lay out an ultimatum. This pushes Marius to finally make an effort to be an actual partner and we see them quickly become close because of it. Their relationship may have been rocky for the past two books, but in the end we do see a strong couple out of it.

Mina’s a character who I have come to really enjoy. She is smart, capable, and determined to do right in the world. I have really enjoyed her growth. She has become a woman who refuses to be pushed around and finally sets ultimatums for the men in her life to do better. I really enjoyed her standing up to Gordon and finally forcing him to do something right.

Overall, I am still enjoying this series and look forward to the next book. I really enjoy this found family of trouble makers and this run down home they are trying to revive.
