Title: The Outlaw and the Lady
Author: Lorraine Heath
Series: Daughters of Fortune #1
Pages: 375

Lee Raven is out for revenge against the man who killed his parents and stole their land. He robs banks but only ever steals that man’s money. When leaving the newest bank he runs into Angela Bainbridge and realizes she has seen his face, so he kidnaps her before she can alert anyone. What he doesn’t realize is that Angela is blind.
It’s been a long time since I read a Heath novel, or a historical romance, so I was surprised when I read the blurb for this and instantly wanted to read it. I really enjoyed Angela and Lee’s story. Lee is a notorious outlaw but isn’t actually evil. He is a contradiction. He is a proud man who just wants to right a wrong, even if he is going about it in the wrong way. Lee was a great character who went out of his way to treat Angela like a woman, not an object. I also really liked how he took care of his family. He was just a strong, protective, and kind man who ended up in a life of crime due to trauma.
Angela was an independent and fierce woman who wasn’t afraid to take a stand or say what needed to be said. I loved her from the beginning, especially when she went out her way to slow her captors down and didn’t become a simmering ninny. Angela was a woman who didn’t let her disability hold her back from living. Also it was great that Heath didn’t make her disability her whole personality in this, which has been an issue with some books I have read before.
The relationship between Angela and Lee was so emotional and beautiful. From the very beginning you could feel the romance building between these two and it ended up just being so enjoyable, especially with all the drama of the chase and all the reveals at the end. Heath really does a great job at writing a beautiful, emotional, and enjoyable relationship.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable romance. Heath continues to amaze me with how well she writes her characters and romances. I really need to read more of her work now.
