In this volume we finally get to the point of battle that everyone has been waiting for, Kaiju No. 8 is on the field and ready to take down Kaiju No. 9. This was an action packed and fantastic volume. We see how far Kafka has come since he first became 8 and all the new things he has learned from Vice-Captain Hoshina and Captain Narumi.
Kaiju No. 9 continues to be such a cool enemy. He has surprises up his sleeve in this battle making it hard to determine how this will play out. But Kafka is not alone in this fight because he finally has Mina by his side. He finally gets to fulfill his childhood promise to her!!! I love seeing these two work together to bring down 9. It’s just perfect and I can’t get enough of them.
This was a volume I couldn’t put down between the intense action and all the unexpected reveals happening. I really can’t wait to get my hands on the next volume to find out how Kafka is going to take down Kaiju No. 9.

Same, I am a bit sad that it will only be 16 volumes, curious to see how it is all going to be tied up, because for now I just cannot see it ending any time soon.
