Title: Devils and Details
Author: Devon Monk
Series: Ordinary Magic #2
Length: 6h 10m

Police Chief Delaney Reed is determined to keep the secrets of her town of Ordinary. But she has her hands full between a murdered vampire, the gods power being stolen, and a possible second chance with Ryder Bailey.
Like the first book, I was sucked into this unique town filled with vacationing gods, vampires, werewolves and other creatures. Devon has done a great job at creating such a unique small town and great characters to fill it.
Delaney is dealing with a lot in this book and it doesn’t all get resolved in this book. This book ends on a cliffhanger and the town in danger from one of Old Rossi’s (vampire leader) old enemies. I enjoyed the different things Delaney had to deal with in this one with the missing god’s power and solving the murder. But, at times it felt like one case was getting forgotten for the other. I still enjoyed it though.
Delaney is also dealing with Ryder again in this. She gives him a second chance and learns the truth about what he was doing before he moved home. I found Ryder’s history to be interesting, especially since it indicates what the government is like in this world. What I didn’t love about this relationship was that Delaney just forgives him so easily, he doesn’t even have to grovel. Also if you go to interrogate someone, you probably should be making out with them before you find out if they murdered someone. The way they finally got together was just weird and not exactly enjoyable for me.
Overall, I am enjoying this series and this small town. I will probably continue reading to see what happens next with the vampires and if Delaney’s relationship actually works out.
TW: murder; kidnapping and torture; death of a parent mentioned;

I have to admit that the cover is seducing, but seeing your rating…I’m rethinking. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah the covers for the series are intriguing. I enjoy the story but it’s not wowing me as much as I expected it too, at least not yet.
