This volume picks up right where the previous one ended. Lucia is at an illegal market on the outskirts of the kingdom to learn more about fairies and the war. She learns that she has been living in ignorance about what the fairy’s have been dealing with. The elves that she has seen humans have as servants and laborers are actually just faeries who have had their wings forcibly removed.
This discovery shocks and changes everything for Lucia. She struggles to act like everything is normal now and go about her duties as a lady in waiting and in-training mage. This becomes even harder when the king’s uncle Ricon, who has been dealing with the war, returns to the castle and seems interested in Lucia.
Like the previous volumes, I was instantly hooked to Lucia and Modeus’ story. I have really enjoyed the progression of reveals and learning more about this world of humans and faeries. After this cliffhanger of an ending, I am really excited to get my hands on the next volume and find out what will happen to Lucia, especially since we are finally getting to see some of her past.
