4 stars – It was really good

Ellis Clearwater lives outside of town and he prefers it that way. He likes his quiet existence and toiling away in his garden, but that doesn’t get rid of the loneliness. When he finds himself face to face with the monster in the woods that the children’s rhyme warns of, his whole life changes.

This was a very adorable romance. Ellis and Styx had a beautiful, slow building relationship that grew as they slowly figured out how to communicate and spent more time together. I really loved how they courted each other with gift baskets of food. Also the pumpkin patch was just so perfect for Ellis. It was all just really adorable and sweet.

While Styx may look like a fierce and deadly monster, he was so gentle and sweet with Ellis. But we do see that he has no problem getting revenge against others when it’s to protect Ellis. I really enjoyed Styx’s version of revenge. Also while Styx isn’t really a talker, I still felt his personality and voice came through really well in this.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and will be reading the next book in this series. This is my second book by Quin and so far I am really enjoying her writing.
