Title: Vampire, Interrupted
Author: Lynsay Sands
Series: Argeneau #9
Pages: 382

Marguerite is the matriarch of the Argeneau clan and has helped her children and family members find their life mates, now it’s finally her chance. I cannot tell you how excited I was when I finally got to this book. This story has been living rent free in my brain since I originally read it in 2012. It’s my favorite of this series, at least from what I remember of this series.
Marguerite Argeneau is over seven hundred years old and is finally trying to pursue a career as a private investigator. Her first assignment is to find Christian Notte’s mother, which seems simple enough until someone attempts to kill her. Now she has to figure out who is after her, find Christian’s mother, and deal with the fact that his father, Julius, is her life mate.
Like I said, this book was my favorite when I originally read this series and that has not changed it seems. Marguerite finally has control of her life and is determined to be independent. This career is a huge thing for her and her family, but we see Marguerite realizes that it isn’t what she expected. I enjoyed getting to know Marguerite, especially seeing her take charge of situations and not letting others make plans for her. I liked that she didn’t jump into a relationship with Julius right away and that she worked through her fears by getting to know him before she committed. Jean Claude really fucked her up so I was really glad to see caution from her.
Julius Notte has spent the past 500 years mourning his life mate, but meeting Marguerite changes everything. I liked Julius even though he’s a bit overprotective, but he has his reasons. Julius and Marguerite have a very unique relationship with its own problems, but it made for a very captivating story. I won’t say why it’s so unique but I remember being so surprised by the turn of events the first time I read it, which is probably why this story has stuck with me all these years.
The mystery of who is trying to kill Marguerite and who Christian’s mother is, was a very interesting one. The villain was a surprise and I think Sands did a great job at keeping that a mystery throughout this story. Christian’s mother was a surprise but I really love how it turned out and that everyone accepted it so easily once the truth came out. Also all the new information about Jean Claude was surprising and also a bit heartbreaking, even if it doesn’t make up for his action.
Overall, this is one of my favorite vampire romances because of how unique it is. I am so glad I still loved this as much as I remembered. I really look forward to seeing Marguerite and Julius in future books to see how their relationship has progressed.
