Title: Bite Me If You Can
Author: Lynsay Sands
Series: Argeneau #6
Pages: 369

One minute Leigh is walking home, the next she is being attacked and turned by a rogue vampire. Now she has to survive the rogues and the team trying to stop them. Lucian Argeneau has been alive for over two thousand years, but his life gets turned upside down when he and his team rescue Leigh from the rogue vampires.
From the beginning, I was sucked into this story because Lucian was a character I was very interested in knowing more about. He is one of the original vampires that survived the fall of Atlantis, so he has seen a lot. In the previous books, Lucian has been the aggressive and unemotional leader of the Argeneau family. He has made threats against some of the previous mates and doesn’t regret it because he will do anything to protect his family and their secret. Lucian is actually a softy under all the grumpy and tense exterior. I really enjoyed seeing him reawaken with hunger for food, sex, and just life in general.
Leigh is an independent and tough woman. She is a woman who escaped an abusive marriage and made a new life and career for herself. I really enjoyed Leigh’s character, especially since she doesn’t let Lucian push her around and is constantly challenging him. She also was pretty accepting of becoming a vampire and learned control pretty quickly, which I liked.
Lucian and Leigh start off a bit rocky with Lucian being a grump and trying to push her off on other family members. Once he gives up on that and actually starts talking to Leigh, he really starts coming alive and realizing she is his mate. I liked that both of them were afraid of another relationship and that Lucian was willing to wait for Leigh to trust him. I love a man with patience and understanding. Once these two finally got together, they had great chemistry and really worked well as a team, especially against rogues.
This was the first book that really discussed the issue of rogues. Lucian and his team of hunters are searching for an ancient name Morgan who used to be friends with Lucian’s brother, Jean Claude. While the hunt for Morgan wasn’t the main focus of this book, I still enjoyed what parts of the hunt we did get. Also I just find the whole concept of the immortals going rogue because they have given up on finding a mate to be an interesting and unique one.
Overall, this was another enjoyable vampire romance. I really liked Lucian, especially after he opened up and let his family in. I am really looking forward to Marguerite’s book, which we do get a hint of something happening to her at the end of this book.
