3 stars – I liked it

Two weeks before Lucern and Kate’s wedding, Bastian finds himself with a penthouse full of guests and dealing with wedding issues because Kate and Lucern are out of town. While he is a bit annoyed by it, he is enjoying spending time with Kate’s bridesmaid and cousin Terri. But is she his life mate and will she accept him?

While I liked this book overall, it wasn’t as exciting as the previous books so I found myself a little bored at times. There is no villain or crazy romance conference getting in the way of this couple, just a few wedding issues, which I find a bit boring.

Bastian is the problem solver for the family and has been running the businesses since Jean-Claude passed. He didn’t realize how uneventful his life was until Terri showed up and he felt the need to show her places. I liked Bastian. He was charming and sweet. Seeing him come back to life as it was and find passion in eating and going out was wonderful. I especially loved how determined he was to show Terri around town and take her places.

Terri is a widow who currently lives in England. While I didn’t mind Terri, I did find her a bit annoying towards the end when she just cuts and runs over a vague thing she overheard. She had no context for the things said and just uses it to run from her feelings. Basically she is a coward and I don’t really love that in my heroines but its fine.

My only other complaint with this book was the use of the word ‘cousin’. Every time Bastian or Vincent talked to each other they called each other cousin. Why? We knew after the first time and it didn’t need to be brought up again. But it was constant and was a bit jarring after a while with how many times it appeared.

Overall, while I didn’t love this one, I still enjoyed seeing Bastian find his life mate. I look forward to reading the next one and seeing who falls in love next. Probably Vincent since Marguerite was going to badger him.
