4 stars – It was really good

It’s been a few months since the events of the previous book and Dresden is still dealing with the fallout. He has barely worked with the police and his income is slowly dwindling to nothing, making him wonder if he will be in business for much longer. When Murphy finally pulls him back on a case, he finds himself dealing with murders done by werewolves.

Like the previous book, this was an interesting and action packed adventure for Harry. He finds himself dealing with multiple different types of werewolves and struggling to unravel the person tying them all together. I really enjoyed this one and its unique take on werewolves. The three different kinds were all unique and had different weaknesses and strengths. I really appreciate this unique take on werewolves, especially since it made it easier to differentiate them while reading this book.

The mystery of finding out who the werewolves were and what their plan was made for an interesting mystery that kept me pretty hooked. I enjoyed the progression of this case for Dresden but hopefully the next adventure involves less time in police cuffs for Harry. He really doesn’t seem to have good luck with the police lately.

In the previous book, Harry ruined his relationship with Murphy by withholding information for fear of the White Council using it to hurt her. He still doesn’t know how to repair the damage that has been done to his relationship with Murphy and this case doesn’t help. While things change drastically for Murphy in this, and their relationship is still damaged, I do wonder how it will go for them in the next book.

Overall, this was another enjoyable and action packed case for Harry. I am interested in seeing what happens next for him because I really don’t remember anymore.

TW: death, violence, gore; kidnapping and torture; PTSD; death of a work partner and grief;
