Liam Cuelebre is struggling to come to terms with the loss of an uncle and all the changes happening to him. He is going through another growth spurt and now has a year to show that he can be a sentinel. But he doesn’t know how to get to the level needed to become a sentinel. 

This was short and only the second story told from Liam’s POV. In this we see Liam struggling with his grief over Constantine’s death and his request to take his position. Liam may have the body of a 19ish year old, but he is technically only a year old and while he does have book smarts, he has no real practical knowledge. We see him struggling with his need to become a sentinel but be properly trained as well. 

I like that we are getting these novellas in Liam’s pov since he is such a unique and interesting character. He has changed so much since the previous story of his and a lot has happened in the wyr domain as well. He is making his own decisions now and everyone is struggling with it because he has grown so quickly. I did like that while this was filled with a lot of tension because of his uncertainty, we also got some great family scenes. Dragos and Pia may struggle a little with his new decision but they also support it and it was great seeing that support, especially from Dragos. 

Overall, this may be short but I did enjoy seeing what will be happening for Liam in the future. Also it was great just seeing how strong of a family they are, even when they are really busy.
