4 stars – It was really good

All Magnolia wanted was to fall in love and get married. Her romantic hopes are dashed though when she finds out her alien groom, Oaken, is too injured to come meet her. The only way she can get to him is to travel towards Oaken’s mountain with Garrek, his young convict-ward Killian, and his herd. But the longer Magnolia spends with Garrek, the more she realizes she doesn’t want to marry just anyone, she wants Garrek.

After reading the previous books, I was very eager to start this one because I wanted to know how Magnolia’s journey goes and if she would follow through with marrying Oaken. Magnolia’s journey with Garrek and Killian was so enjoyable and had the perfect amount of sexual tension. For a lot of this book they each tried to ignore their growing feelings, which I always enjoy. Their declaration of love for each other was wonderful, I especially loved Garrek admitting his feelings. Also I really appreciated that the confrontation with Oaken wasn’t filled with hurt feelings or anger because I think that would have ruined the vibes some.

Killian, Garrek’s ward, was a surprisingly wonderful side character. I loved how he opened up to Magnolia and she got him to not be so confrontational. Also Garrek in dad mode was great and I really enjoyed seeing him open up to Killian about his feelings. So not only did this have a great romance, but it also had just great side characters.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one, just like I did the previous books. I can’t wait to read more of this series. Also I want to see Oaken find love now since he was a great guy.

TW: death of a patient and friend discussed; grief; patricide discussed; venomous animal attack;
