2024 Reading Wrap Up

Hello! 2024 is over and its a new year, which means it’s time to do a wrap up for the whole year. I will do a recap of my 2024 goals, which I forgot to share last year, and then go into a recap of my reading stats. Also as a bonus, I include my favorite movies and anime of the year.

2024 Goals Revisit

Read 400 books – done
Netgalley to 100% – My netgalley is still at 95% since the beginning of the year. I have cleared it multiple times but It hasn’t passed the 95 point. I think I have marked to many books as DNF or will not review so now it won’t increase.
Get 650 blog followers – I only got 631 followers this year but that is a 30 person increase from last year which I still consider a win, especially since I don’t actively try to bring in new people.
Get my backlog to 25% on Storygraph tracker – I got my backlog to 20%, but I also went through my books and deleted over 100 that I knew I wasn’t going to read anymore. So I still consider it progress.
Continue to post three times a month on Instagram – Done. I actually was able to do this this year and I am going to keep trying for three a month this year as well.
Participate in new reading challenges. – Done. I actually did patriciate in a few new challenges this year, like the Audiobook Reading Challenge, Bang in the Night, #FallInLoveBingo, Book Club Bitches Fall Reading Challenge, and a queer book challenge. This year I am going to try and continue this.
Only buy books that I know I want to read or that I have already read and are on sale. – I mostly bought only books that were on sale and I had already read this year. I did buy a few that I had not read but they were on sale and my library doesn’t have them so I count it as a win.

2024 Reading Stats

I read 525 books in 2024! Also this year I continued to read more new books than reread which is what I want. I am had more DNF than usual, but that is because I am trying to stop reading books I am not enjoying sooner so I can move onto stuff I do like.

Formats:

In 2024, I read mostly eBooks, which is my main format, and for the second year in a row audiobooks come in second. Then Manga and Graphic Novels, which could have been under eBooks since I read these almost exclusively in eformat but I like to track them separately.

Listening Time:

In 2024, I surpassed my expectation on how many hours I would be listening to. I never expect to hit 1,000 but I did. Now I wonder if I can do it again this year.

Most Read Authors:

In 2024, my top most read authors were all authors that I reread this year. I did a big reread of all of Ilona Andrews, Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken, Thea Harrison, and Jennifer Estep books this year. The rest of them are both new and old.

Also I don’t know why when I exported this chart it cuts off Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken and Naoya Matsumoto but it did for some reason, no matter how many times I tried to fix it.

New Favorite Authors:

In 2024, I tried to explore new authors or authors that had been on my radar for a while. Here are my new favorite authors who I will be trying to read all of their backlogs or any new books they put out.

Most Read Genres:

My most read genre was paranormal romance, which shouldn’t be a surprise. Next was LGBTQIA books, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, then Urban Fantasy. Also some of the books I read were multi-genre books, like paranormal but also Queer, which is why these numbers probably add up to more than I read.
