2024 is over which means its time to share my favorite books of the year. I read a lot of books this year so I have a lot of favorites. I don’t limit myself to my top 10, because I really can’t narrow it down like that. Instead I just share my favorite books from each genre. Also sometimes a whole series ends up on my favorites list, so some of these will just be a full series. So here were my favorite books of the year.
Paranormal Romance
As you have probably noticed by now, paranormal romance is my favorite genre and so there are quite a lot of books in this category. To start with, the series that I loved.

The Goliaths of Wrestling series by Lily Mayne was a fantastic surprise for me this year. I loved this series so much and I don’t even like wrestling. But the characters are all fantastic, the banter hilarious, and the couples are just so much fun. I highly recommend this series.

The Demonica Birthright series by Larissa Ione is the a spin-off series of her Demonica series. This takes place 30 years after the events of that series and involves the original couples children. The Demonica world is one of my favorite worlds ever and so I love that we are getting more books in this world but set in the future. It makes everything familiar but also new because so much has changed.

The Fanged Mistakes series by Alice Winters was one I picked up on a whim and ended up just devouring. I really enjoyed this hilarious fake dating story with a grumpy vampire and a happy werewolf. I really want to read more stories with these two now. Also these were my first by Alice Winters and it kicked off me reading more of her books.

Some other paranormal romances that I fell in love with this year!
Urban Fantasy
Urban fantasy is my second favorite genre to read, but this year I didn’t spend a lot of time reading new UF. I did reread a lot of my favorite UF books, but unfortunately didn’t find a lot of new UF that I loved. Hopefully next year will be a better reading year for urban fantasy.

Fantasy Romance
This year I read more fantasy than I normally do, which is a good thing. I use to love fantasy as a kid/teen and so I like that I am getting back into reading it.

The Infernal War Saga by Hailey Turner is a queer fantasy world that involves multiple countries, relationships, and a fight for a throne. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put these books down. I was very glad I waited to read them until the series was finished after I got hooked on book one.

And here are two other fantasy books that I really loved this year.
Sci-Fi Romance
The second half of this year, was heavy with sci-fi romances for me. I go through spurts where all I want is one genre and this year was just a lot of sections of sci-fi. But I did read some great books because of it and found new authors.

The Cowboy Colony Mail-Order Brides series by Ursa Dax was my first introduction to Dax’s writing. I really loved this series of mail-order brides and criminal cowboys. I can’t wait to read more of this series next year.

Here are a few more sci-fi book that I loved this year. Also I am just now realizing that all of these books in this section came out this year.
Contemporary Romance
This year I didn’t read a lot of contemporary romance. Being a mood reader, sometimes I avoid a genre for a long time and that is what happened with contemporary romance this year. But I did get a few books read that I loved.

The Texas Heroes series by Jess Anastasi was a great queer romantic suspense series. Burn it Down is probably my favorite out of all three but I enjoyed them all.

Here are two other contemporary romances that I enjoyed. Also, every book in this category is Queer!
Graphics
I read over 100 graphics this year and a lot of them were fantastic. So there is quite a few here because I couldn’t narrow it down.

As always, Lore Olympus Vol. 6 and Vol. 7 by Rachel Smythe, are on my list. This series is fantastic and I love it so much. I can’t wait till I own the full series because these books are beautiful.

Morgana and Oz series by Miyuli is a fantastic young adult webtoon that is an enemies to lovers story. Morgana and Oz are just so cute and I love the progression of their story so far. Also the artwork for this series is very beautiful and colorful. Volume 2 comes out next year, but I got an ARC of the book and already read it, but you can read it on webtoons for free.

Here are some more graphics that I loved. The Dandadan manga is fantastic and I have read all of it this year and highly recommend it. I just am not reviewing it on here, just Goodreads and Storygraph.
- Teen Titans: Starfire by Kami Garcia
- Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath
- The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich by Deya Muniz
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin-Lost Years by Kevin Eastman
- Dandadan series by Yukinobu Tatsu
Nonfiction
I read almost 40 nonfiction books this year and a lot of them were really informative and enjoyable. Here are my favorites of the year.

- Women in the Valley of the Kings: The Untold Story of Women Egyptologists in the Gilded Age by Kathleen Sheppard
- Kinky History: A Rollicking Journey through Our Sexual Past, Present, and Future by Esme James
- The Wrath to Come: Gone with the Wind and the Lies America Tells by Sarah Churchwell
- Madame Restell: The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Old New York’s Most Fabulous, Fearless, and Infamous Abortionist by Jennifer Wright
- The Mine Wars: The Bloody Fight for Workers’ Rights in the West Virginia Coalfields by Steve Watkins
So those were my favorite books of the year! I hope you found a book that you are interested in. If you have read any of these, what did you think about them?
