A Wolf to Watch Over Me
Wolves of Fenrir #1
59 pages
4 stars – It was really good
This was a very short book but it was so great! I couldn’t resist picking this up when I saw it was a sci-fi romance but with wolf shifters. The world building is a bit sparse since it is so short but we do know that Earth has colonized other planets, drawing the attention of alien species and a war with the alien Cancri Axis happened. Earth is now allied with the Fenrir Army and wolf Hakon SidUlfir has been tasked with being Lauren Ivers bodyguard.
This was a very short, action packed story that I really wish was longer. Lauren and Hakon had a fated mates/instant love story that was enjoyable, even if we didn’t get to see a lot of build up or steam between them. Lauren was a smart woman who was also a bit sarcastic and I loved that she was never afraid of Hakon. Hakon is protective of her from the beginning and he had the whole “touch her and die” vibes, which I like. Overall, this may have been short, but it was really enjoyable and I will be reading the next story now.
A Most Wanted Wolf
Wolves of Fenrir #2
96 pages
3 stars – I liked it
This was another interesting read for this series. I am really enjoying the idea of alien wolf shifters who have fated mate tendencies. After reading the previous book, I was really interested in seeing what would happen next for Hakon and Lauren and learn more about the Fenrir.
Andrew and Ule’s story was another fated mates/ instant love one. While I usually enjoy insta-love stories, I didn’t completely believe this one and struggle a bit with believing their relationship will last long term. Since Andrew is a spy and isn’t being 100% truthful during his time with Ule until the end, I struggle to see them as a healthy couple because we didn’t get to see any of their relationship after the truth was revealed. I really wish there had been a few more chapters in their story to see how Ule and Andrew rebuild the trust between them.
Silver Wolf Rising
Wolves of Fenrir #3
106 pages
4 stars – It was really good
This one was action packed and great! I couldn’t put it down. Dagny tärEinar is traveling to Earth to visit her daughter, Ule, and to determine what she wants to do with the rest of her life now that her children are grown. When the ship is attacked she finds herself quickly falling for the grumpy soldier Niall sidKalvr.
Like the first book, I was instantly hooked to this couple’s story. Niall and Dagny had another fated mates/instant love story that was nonstop action from the beginning. Dagny was a strong, capable, and a bit snarky woman who has raised three kids. She is sweet and kind but we see her protective side as well, which I loved. Niall is a lifelong soldier who is struggling with being retired and thinks he isn’t worthy of a mate because of being an amputee. I really love seeing these two fall hard and fast while running and fighting the enemy aliens. I also love that we are getting to see a story about older characters finding love, because I never see enough of that.
The Wolf Who Came in From the Cold
Wolves of Fenrir #4
106 pages
4 stars – It was really good
This was a great conclusion to this series and another enjoyable couple. Rig sidUlfr is General of the Fenrir troops on Earth and is determined to maintain the peace, even if Axis terrorist are determined to destroy that. While on Earth he finds himself quickly falling for his beautiful interpreter, Mirea Randolph, but can they survive the attacks to have a future together.
Rig and Mirea’s story was another action packed and enjoyable one. Like all the previous stories, this one is a fated mates/ instant love one but we do see a longer relationship process with these two than previous couples. Rig was a protective man who was determined to keep Mirea safe. Mirea was a smart woman who spoke a dozen languages and wasn’t afraid to stand up to Rig when he was being pushy. I really enjoyed their relationship and the ending of this series.
Overall, if you like short instant love romance with wolf shifters, maybe check out this series.
