Title: Bump in the Night
Author: Nicole Knight and Lily Mayne
Series: Black Oasis #2
Pages: 401

Ivy has a decent job at the London office of Somnus Entertainment, the gaming company behind the wildly popular game Black Oasis. When a skeevy encounter during a fun night at a pub devolves into a violent hate, changing Ivy’s life forever. They wake up in the demon dimension, beaten and broken with a haughty demon healer with terrible bedside manner taking care of them.
This was another slow building romance with Ivy and Lau falling for each other while Ivy heals. Lau and Ivy’s relationship was extremely enjoyable but also frustrating at times with how Lau kept pushing Ivy away. Lau is a haughty and closed mouth demon and it took a lot for him to let Ivy close. I really enjoyed learning about Lau and why he is so flustered when it comes to sexual things, even if he did frustrate me for how long it took for him to open up.
Ivy is a great character and I loved getting to know them. They refused to let Lau push them away and I liked them for it. Ivy and Lau’s relationship does involve a brief third act breakup that I think made sense with how stubborn both of these characters are but it made them at least realize their mistakes.
Overall, this was another great couple with an emotional and slow building romance. I loved that we got to see how Cody and Nor are doing and meet Lau’s brother Vari. Vari was a ridiculous demon who cracked me up and I wonder if we will be getting a story about him now.
