5 stars – I loved it!

When I heard Lily Mayne was writing a new series, I was excited but also apprehensive because I am not a wrestling fan, but I knew if anyone could make me enjoy it it would be her.

From the very beginning, I was hooked to Taylor and Holt’s story and the Goliaths of Wrestling. Taylor is an average 39 year old man who has just realized how much he hates his job and his life. His ex turned him into a corporate employee and then left him and he just never got out of that routine. I really felt for Taylor because it is so easy to fall into a routine and realize months or years later you hate how your life has turned out. Watching Taylor break out of his routine with Holt and find what actually makes him happy again was really wonderful to see.

“You’re perfect for me, Taylor Hough.”

Holt is an empyn, which means he can absorb other people’s emotions, and is the boss of the Goliaths of Wrestling. Holt was a boisterous guy with a love of vibrant colors. He was just a great guy and a great boss. Holt and Taylor’s relationship was wonderful. I really enjoyed how it started as a mistaken identity that led to strong friendship and relationship. Their relationship was sweet, sexy, kinky, and hilarious at times. Also I really enjoyed watching Holt try to hide that they were paranormals.

On top of the wonderful relationship, Mayne did a wonderful job with all the side characters. The wrestlers were all so much fun and I loved their wrestling personas. It was just all so well thought out that it made it fun to read about wrestling, which is saying something for me because I have read during a wrestling match before. Also, Mayne did a great job with thinking up merch for these characters too because the merch is referenced frequently and it all sounded amazing and fit the characters perfectly, which made this even more believable and fun to read.

Overall, this was an unexpected delight. I really enjoyed Taylor and Holt’s relationship and all the ball talking that happened within it. I can’t believe I am excited to read more books about wrestling but I am now.
