4 stars – It was really good

This had a very unexpected beginning. This volume is the last of the battle against kaiju no. 9 and training to take down’ No. 9 and its minions in the future. We also see the return of Reno Ichikawa as he is being trained to use a kaiju weapon. I am very interested in seeing what happens next.

This volume was mainly about Ichikawa Reno training with the Kaiju No 6 suit and weapon. It is really interesting to see what all the different numbered Kaiju can do and how the Defense Force utilizes them. At the end we get to see a bit about Kafka being trained by the Vice-Captain. I am really interested in seeing the next fight with both of these characters.

Title: Kaiju No 8 Vol 9

4 stars – It was really good

This volume continues with Kafka training with Vice-Captain Hoshina and shows the start of Kaiju No 9s big attack which includes multiple monsters attacking the nation simultaneously. This was an action packed start to a battle with Kikoru Shininiya using Numbers Weapon Armor 4, her mother’s old armor, to destroy multiple monsters quickly. We also see Vice-Captain Hoshina in the Numbers Weapon 10 suit and it doesn’t go as smoothly as expected because his suit is sentient. I love how badass Kikoru is and how she just keeps getting cooler. I also can’t wait to see how Hoshina fights in his suit. This battle looks like it’s going to be a long and intense one and I can’t wait to see what all happens.
