4 stars – It was really good

This was another action packed volume with an unexpected ending. This continues the fight on the base with Vice-Captain Hosina fighting the kaiju leader until Captain Mina Ashiro arrives to take it down. This was an interesting battle and I loved getting to see more of Hosina’s fighting style. Also I love how badass Ashiro is.

Unfortunately this battle escalates enough for Kafta to decide to use Kaiju No 8 to save everyone, leading to everyone finding out the truth and his capture. I knew it would happen eventually but I wasn’t expecting it so soon in the series. The Director of the Japan Defense Force now is deciding what is going to happen to Kafta and it doesn’t look good. I am very interested in seeing how this plays out now.

Another action packed adventure for Kafka. In this one he is tested by the Director and deemed to be an asset, for now, to the Japan Defense Force and is assigned to the First Division with Kikoru Shininiya. Kafka’s first mission with the First Division involves another large-scale attack by kaiju and they are being led by Kaiju No. 9. I am really enjoying Kafka’s story and his determination to be a part of the Defense Force. Also I really love Kikoru and how badass she is. She is deadly with that giant ax.

5 stars – I loved it!

There was some badass fighting in this volume. We see Kaiju No. 8 and Kikoru working together to fight Kaiju No. 9. I love seeing these two fight together and uplifting each other. We also get to see the Director really go all out in fighting the main kaiju. I like that we are getting flashbacks of Kikoru’s past and why her father is so distant with her. It makes me like him more as a character and as a leader.
