Title: Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Vol 4
Author: Yuji Kaku
Series: Hell’s Paradise #4
Pages: 216

In this volume, Gabimaru and the other criminals continue to search for the elixir of life. Along the way they learn the truth about what happened to the humans on this island, what Lord Tensen is, and about Tao, which is the energy that Tensen wields. The world and creatures on this island are fascinating. I find the idea of arborfication to be both terrifying and yet beautiful. Between the unique world and interesting characters, I don’t want to put this manga down.

Title: Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Vol. 5
Author: Yuji Kaku
Series: Hell’s Paradise #5
Pages: 216

This volume jumps to Sagirin and her group. They have arrived at the Gate of Horai and find themselves in a fight against one of the Lord Tensen’s, the Enthroned Fuku Juken. The battle against Fuku was very action packed and cool, but also sad. Sagirin and Yuzuriha both learn how to use Tao during the fight. They also get help from Yamada Asaemon Shion in bringing down Fuku. I really liked seeing the different fighting styles all these characters have. It was sad that we lost another person. I am surprised by how attached I am getting to some of these characters considering I know they might die.
This volume ends with Gabimaru losing his memory after passing out from using Tao, Gabimaru fighting Chobei, and the backup Iwagakure ninja and Yamada Asaemon executioner arriving on the island. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out.

Title: Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Vol. 6
Author: Yuji Kaku
Series: Hell’s Paradise #6
Pages: 208

This volume jumps right into the battle between Gabimaru and Chobe the Bandit King. It was a very interesting battle because Chobe has really embraced his tao and was already a crazy fighter. Gabimaru is still dealing with the loss of his memory so is not fighting at peak form against Chobe. It was an action packed fight that didn’t end how I expected but I look forward to learning more about Chobe and his brother Toma. This volume ends with the Yamada clan and Iwagakure clan arriving on the island. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
