This was a great introduction to this series and characters. Gabimaru the Hollow is one of the most notorious ninja assassins. While he is captured, multiple attempts at executing him have failed. The shogun gives him an ultimatum, go to Shinsenkyo and find the elixir of life or die.
Gabimaru is an interesting character. He was raised to be a killing machine and was fine with that as his life until he got married. His wife changed his life and showed him it’s ok to not want to kill people and to have emotions. I love when a character gets reform by falling in love and I think I am really going to love Gabimaru’s story.
I also like Sagiri, his executioner, and think she is possibly going to be an interesting character. I do hate all the sexism that is happening to her though.
Trigger Warnings: sexism, child abuse, cannibalism referenced, murder, violence, and gore.

determination to change and only kill as necessary. I liked his jitsu and how deadly he can be though. It makes for some cool fight scenes.
This is a really fascinating island of creatures who want to kill or turn you into plant life. It’s beautiful and creepy, which is a great contrast. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out.
Trigger Warnings: sexism, murder, violence, and gore.

Title: Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Vol. 3
Author: Yuji Kaku
Series: Hell’s Paradise #3
Pages: 216

In this volume, we have a friendly bonsai man, the threat of Lord Tensen, and the death of more executioners and prisoners. Lord Tensen is a very interesting character with abilities that make them hard to fight. Their fight with Gabimaru was brutal and gory. I will be excited to see it animated so you can really see their fighting styles.
We also jump to the characters Yamada Asaemon Tenza and his charge Nurugai. I was surprised by how much I liked these two characters and sad to see some of what happened. I will be interested in seeing how Nurugai’s story continues.
Also, I love that we are getting flashbacks of his time with his wife. They are so cute together and I love that he is always blushing with her.
Trigger Warnings; death, gore, violence
