3 stars – I liked it

It’s been a year since Kit’s kidnapping and she has slowly rebuilt herself. She is facing her fears and trying to resume her relationship with Damon. When Justin comes to her for help, she finds herself working a case about disappearing paranormals.

Kit is taking steps to regain her life in this. She is still dealing with the fear and PTSD but she is actively trying to work through it and regain what she lost. While heartbreaking, I have enjoyed the progression of Kit’s healing because it feels realistic. I love that we finally are seeing her and Damon back together and restarting their relationship. I am really excited to see how these two work as a couple while dealing with her cases and his clan.

After the end of the previous book I was expecting to see Kit take on TJ’s previous alpha but instead we jump months into the future and deal with a new mission. This was an extremely interesting mission that led to finding multiple moles in the paranormal community, including some people we have met in previous books. I wasn’t expecting some of the betrayals in this and I am very interested in seeing how this mission plays out since Kit is still searching for the ring leaders.

Overall, I did enjoy this book but it felt incomplete in a way because the case wasn’t resolved. I am very interested in seeing where this case leads and who is behind all of these disappearances.

Trigger Warnings; kidnapping and torture; PTSD and nightmares; references to past rape;
