“You’d have to be out of your gods damn mind not to want what they have. Man or monster, who gives a fuck. Love is love.”
Well this book surprised me. After reading the first book I was a little iffy on reading Reece’s story because I knew he hated monsters. Surprisingly, Reece was a great character. Yes he hates monsters but he recognizes that it’s due to a childhood fear and wants to change. From the very beginning he is trying to change his views and get rid of the trauma that is preventing him from becoming friends with other monsters. His prejudice is there in the beginning but it wasn’t off putting because he was actively working on getting over it. Also I liked that in the end he does choose to go to therapy too because that really shows he is becoming a better person.
“You crashed into my life when I least expected it, but also when I needed it most. You can be a dickhead, but you’re my dickhead. My life is infinitely better with you in it, Reece Rollins.”
Cyrus was wonderful and perfect for Reece. He was constantly helping Reece through his issues and letting him progress at pace. Cyrus was a very sweet kraken who just wanted someone to love him. He does have some issues with his body but Reece helps him to overcome that too in the end. Cyrus and Reece have an intense, steamy, and very sweet romance. It was filled with praise kink, a little bit of degradation, toy play, some light sub/dom vibes, and of course lots of tentacles. Overall, this was a wonderful, steamy, and sweet romance that was really fun to read. I can’t wait to read the next book.
