5 stars – I loved it!

This book has been on my radar for a while but for some reason I keep putting it off. Now I want to smack myself for waiting so long to read this. This was an absolutely fascinating post-apocalypse world filled with monsters.

Danny and Wyn the Soul Eater were absolutely fantastic characters who I instantly fell in love with. Danny is a military grunt who unfortunately realizes the military isn’t for him and that they shouldn’t be treating monsters the way they are. I loved watching Danny go from terrified of Why to accepting and loving him. Wyn wasn’t the terrible monster the military portrays him as and as soon as Danny learns that everything changes for them.

“You’re mine, Danny Sullihan. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”

Wyn was an absolutely wonderful and badass monster. He does his job and just expects all humans to fear him but quickly realizes Danny is different. He accepts him for who he is and doesn’t expect him to change who he is. I also loved how feral Wyn would get if Danny was in trouble. These two were an absolutely fantastic couple and I couldn’t get enough of their story.

“I’ve wanted you from the beginning, my sweet human”…”And I will want you until the end.”

Overall, this was a fantastic introduction to this world and some fantastic characters. I loved every minute of this book and couldn’t put it down. I really can’t wait to read the next book because Edin was like an annoying little brother and I want to know more about him now.

Trigger Warnings: torture and branding; nightmares and panic attacks; grief;
