Title: Cover Fire
Author: Jess Anastasi
Series: Valiant Knox #3
Pages: 352

Sub-Lieutenant Sebastian Rayne has been given a mission by Command Intelligence to fly one of their agents behind enemy lines but it quickly goes awry when they crash. Now Sebastian and Agent Jenna Maxwell have to find their way back to Valiant Knox and determine who is the mole in CI.
So far this has been my favorite book of this series. Sebastian is a cocky and charming pilot who is always smiling but that smile is hiding a lot of pain and anger. I enjoyed getting to know Seb a lot, especially since he was both serious but fun. Jenna is an extremely successful undercover CI. She realizes how burnt out and a shell of herself she has become. I loved seeing her open up and become her true self again instead of the various masks she has worn. I really enjoyed the progression of their relationship and how determined Seb was to give Jenna a chance at a normal life again.
We also finally get a deeper look at the war between UEF and CSS. It’s about time we got to see what is going on in the CSS and how the people who live on the planet are dealing with the conflict. I am very interested in seeing how this war will play out and how it’s going to end.
Trigger Warnings: torture and the threat of rape; attempted murder; abuse and violence
