4 stars – It was really good

Lucien’s story is one that I have been eager to read since his terrorization of Roman ended. While surprisingly not a redemption story, Lucien and Jamie’s story was one that kept me hooked and I really enjoyed it.

Jamie was a very interesting character and a great partner for Lucien. He was kind, devoted to his family, and accepted Lucien completely. He understands completely what kind of person Lucien is and accepts both him and his monster. I really enjoyed watching him tame Lucien’s monster and show him love and acceptance. Also while Jamie was a sweet guy, he was surprisingly bloodthirsty at times and didn’t balk at some of Luc’s behaviors.

“Yeah, you’re a monster,” …“But you’re my monster.”

Lucien is a villain and this is not his redemption story. This is just him finding his mate and happiness for the first time in his life. Up till now we have only seen the raging monster, but now we get to see the sweet side that Jamie brings out in him. I loved watching Lucien being baffled, fearful, and hopeful after meeting Jamie to fall head over heels for him. Their relationship was sweet and I loved watching Jamie tame the monster. Also while Jamie does provide control to Luc’s monster, he still continues to kill and terrorize people. He is still a villain after all.

Overall, I really enjoyed seeing Luc finally find happiness and love. Also, I kind of like that we have a villain who finds love but continues to be a villain. It was a nice change of pace.

Trigger Warnings: MC is a villain and has a history of stalking, harassing, and killing.
