Title: Rising Tide
Author: E. M. Lindsey
Series: Broken Chains #5
Pages: 192

Rory and Nate’s story is one that I was eager to read because they clearly have been into each other for a while now. While I did enjoy this, it was a bit of an anticlimactic ending for this series.
Nate was a sweet guy who has basically tried to turn his life around. He was the Reapers enforcer, then went on to become the Sheriff, and is now a Nomad. He was definitely a gray character who has done terrible things, but also a lot of good. I liked Nate and how he wasn’t afraid to say what needed to be said, especially to Smokey.
Rory is Smokey’s younger brother who is blind. While I liked Rory overall, I did find him a bit annoying at times in this. He is impulsive and a bit of an asshole at times. He has definitely experienced some shit but at times he acted very naive. Rory and Nate’s relationship was quick, intense, and steamy. They were sweet together and I loved seeing all the comfort between them. So while I did have issues with Rory, I still enjoyed his and Nate’s story.
The battle against Hydra was anticlimactic. Rory’s plan was a good one and it worked well. Unfortunately, it felt very rushed at the end and we don’t get to really see what the Broken Chains do to Hydra or the people helping him. After three books of hunting Hydra, I was really expecting a bit more but I still enjoyed it overall.
