4 stars – It was really good

Kane was framed for the murder of his shellan and sent to the prison camp over 200 years ago. When Jackal escaped, Kane sacrificed himself and is now living a life barely alive and covered in burns, but his friends will not give up on him. When they escape, Kane finds himself offered a treatment that will repair him but also come with some extreme side effects, but he accepts it to reclaim his life and save the nurse who took care of him.

Kane’s story is one of heartbreak, perseverance, and second chances. Kane and Nadya had a connection that grew from their shared time together in the infirmary and their experiences with extreme injuries. I loved watching these two admit their feelings for each other and find true happiness and love for the first time. Also, the way Kane’s resurrection happens was surprising and had a unique side effect. I really want to know more about it.

At the same time we see Kane and Nadya’s relationship play out, we also see Apex find love in the form of a wolf. I really loved Apex and Callum’s story but was also heartbroken by what happened to Callum, but I hope we see more of them in the future. I especially love that we are seeing more queer couples in this series.

I am hoping there will be more books in this prison camp series because I really want to see more of these characters, especially Mayhem and Apex. I also am curious to see how the finding of the camp will play into the main BDB storyline and if these characters will appear in it. Overall, this was a great addition to this series and I can’t wait to see what will happen next for the Brotherhood.

Trigger Warnings: rape; imprisonment; torture; physical injuries; car accident; PTSD; death of spouse; domestic violence; acid attack;
