5 stars – I loved it!

It’s been over ten years since I read this series but Xylara and Keir’s story is still one that resonates with me and lives rent free in my head. I used to reread this series almost every year but college and a career got in the way, and now I am back and there are new books.

This book was just as amazing and captivating as I remembered. Xylara is a healer and extremely compassionate woman. Keir is a strong Warlord who wants to enrich his people’s lives by bringing about change, but has made many enemies because of it. I loved seeing Keir and Lara learn about the differences between their cultures and finding ways to interact with each other.

The romance between these two is very sweet. Keir is an alpha male but was never cocky. I loved seeing him woo Lara and give her time to become accustomed to his people and their ways. Lara was spunky. I loved seeing her stand up to Keir and fighting for what she believes in. These two just had a very enjoyable relationship that sucked me in from the very beginning and will continue to live rent free in my head. I can’t wait to jump into book two and see how their relationship progresses.

Trigger Warnings: death; blood; violence; injuries;
