4 stars – It was really good

Well this was a wonderful supernatural world filled with magic, gods, demons, and a very steamy romance. I was instantly sucked into this world and its fascinating mesh of magic, mythology, and supernatural creatures. Hailey Turner really knows how to create unique worlds that suck you in and characters that you just instantly fall in love with.

Supernatural Operations Agent Patrick Collins is sent to New York City to investigate a string of ritualistic killings. He quickly finds himself dealing with a werewolf partner, a seer who won’t stay put, gods popping up all the time, and more deaths. Patrick is a damaged man who is determined to continue his fight against demons and the Dominion Sect. I loved seeing him learn to lean on others and start to fall in love with Jonothan.

“I’ve spent the past thirteen years without a pack. No one is taking you away from me,”

Jono is a werewolf who has spent the past ten years fighting the urge to create a pack. He moved to NY three years ago because the Seer told him he would find his chance there. I loved seeing Jono stand up for Patrick and take care of him. He never backs down when Patrick gets grumpy and starts threatening him. Jono and Patrick had a wonderful and steamy relationship that I instantly fell in love with. They are two lost souls who find love and healing with each other and I really can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses in future books.

Overall, this was a wonderfully rich urban fantasy with a great relationship on top. I can’t wait to jump into the rest of the series and learn more about this world and this couple.

Trigger Warnings: graphic descriptions of death; PTSD; death of family members; torture;
