3 stars – I liked it

Xóchitl has been bringing happiness and love to others for years but this year she wants it for herself. She decides to request love from Santa this year but quickly finds that Santa is a grumpy draegyn who has lost his Christmas spirit.

I have some mixed feelings about this book. I think the relationship between the characters was steamy, sweet, and full of lots of praise kink. I loved seeing  Arson teach Xo about sex and how to please herself and others. It was also seeing Arson find his Christmas cheer again and be excited to return as Santa. I do think his candy cane colored dick was a bit ridiculous but after reading this many monster romances I kind of just rolled with it and moved on.

My main issue with this story was that the world building was very minimal. We don’t learn a lot about Cupids, Draegyns, or why draegyns are in the role of Santa, which I thought would be an important thing to know. While I did enjoy the romance and sex between these two, they don’t have a lot of depth as characters. Xo is a cupid who wants love and Arson is a grumpy Santa who has a candy cane dick. We don’t find out why Arson has given up on Christmas.

Like I said, I liked this book but wanted more depth to the world and characters. I do think I will read Pyro’s book to see if there is more world building or if this author just focuses on the sexy, which is completely fine, I will most likely still enjoy it.  Overall, if you are looking for a steamy Christmas monster romance then maybe check this out, but if you like more depth and world building this might not be for you.
