Revisiting My Summer TBR

Hello everyone!

Since its fall now that means it’s time to review my summer TBR. For the first time since I started these seasonal TBRs, I actually completed one. I actually read the last book two days before the fall one would start, so I was cutting it a little close but I did it!

Now onto the books and how I felt about them.

5 stars – I loved it!

This is actually the book that I read last minute, and have been putting off for years really. I was so surprised by this book and how amazing it was. The worldbuilding and characters are all fantastic. I couldn’t put it down and I have been binging the series since I finished this.

The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story created by Nikole Hannah-Jones

5 stars – I loved it!

This is a very informative and educational collection of essays. I highly recommend it. Also the audiobook is narrated by the authors of each essay and poetry if you like a full cast audiobook.

3 stars – I liked it

This was an interesting murder mystery. I was hoping for more backstory on Sarah and Marie-Therese but I still enjoyed it.

Dune: Messiah by Frank Herbert

3 stars out of 5
3 stars – I liked it

I did enjoy that we get to see more of Paul’s story, but a lot of this was a boring because of the heavy focus on the politics going on. I am glad I read it but I won’t be continuing the series.

4 stars out of five
4 stars – It was really good

This was another really enjoyable Nocturne Fall’s romance. Sunny’s abilities were fascinating and Ren was surprisingly sweet. I highly recommend this series if you like paranormal romances set in small towns. Also this town is Halloween themed all year around.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

DNF 55%

I ended up stopping halfway through this story because this one wasn’t really do anything for me. It was just meh, at least at the time I listened to it. I might give it a second chance in the future.

3 stars – I liked it

This was an enjoyable spin-off series to the Mythos Academy. I enjoyed Rory’s story a lot and can defiantly tell she is related to Gwen.

Firefighter Dragon by Zoe Chant

3 stars out of 5
3 stars – I liked it

Like most of Zoe Chant’s books, this one was fast paced and had an instant love couple. I enjoyed the story a lot though and ended up reading the whole series.

The Devil in Disguise by Cynthia Eden

2 stars out of 5
2 stars – it was ok

This was an interesting world with an ok couple. I wasn’t really invested in their story and while I found aspects of the world interesting, I won’t be reading further.

Reaper by Larissa Ione

5 out of 5 stars
5 stars – I loved it!

This was a great ending for Azagoth and Lillianna’s story. It was also a great ending for the Demonica series. I really can’t wait to read the upcoming spin-off series with everyone’s children.

So that is the end of my Summer TBR and I am so happy I actually completed a TBR. It was a bit hit and miss but at least I finished it. I am excited to see if I can complete my fall TBR, especially since I decided on a lot of Halloween themed books.

Did you complete your summer TBR?
