Title: Base Instinct
Author: Larissa Ione
Series: Demonica #13.5
Pages: 154

We finally get a same sex couple in the Demonica world! Raze may be attracted to males but due to being a Seminus demon he physically can’t get off with one. When Raze meets Slake he decides to take a chance at being happy, even if he needs the help of his succubus friend Fayle to be with him.
I really enjoyed Raze and Slake’s story. From the beginning their relationship seems to be doomed to fail, but due to Slake’s demon species things work out. I like that Ione didn’t draw out the pain the felt at not being able to fulfill each others needs. I prefer a relationship that things work out pretty quickly in compared to a long drawn out process. Raze and Slake were both great characters. I really wish we had seen Slake fight though since he is a master of weapons apparently.
Ione has really created a very unique world with all different kinds of demons. I love each time she introduces a new one, especially one as unique as Slake is, because it continues to build this fascinating world. Also, I like that while Ione has set rules for the Seminus demons, she has made the unique cases believable. Overall, this was another fascinating story with a great couple.
