4 stars – It was really good

So this book takes place a few months after the previous book. A lot of important things happen in this book, but the main focus is on defeating a volcano god, who is also stalking Christy, Adam’s ex-wife.

This book starts with Christy calling and asking for help from a stalker. I will say that Christy is the one side character that I instantly hated and still hate to this day. I liked how Mercy handled Christy taking over her house. She took the high road and didn’t sink to Christy’s level, even if I wanted her to deck Christy a few times. My issue was with Adam. I was very frustrated with his actions towards Christy. He sees her stirring up trouble again and doesn’t do anything about it. He should have done something because he is alpha and he should be protecting the pack from her manipulations, especially Mercy. I was just very frustrated at him for this.

The fight against the volcano god was very interesting. I found his tibicenas to be very fascinating creatures, but also very sad for how they were created. I enjoyed the hunt and battle against this creature, but I was a bit surprised by the ending. It was a bit abrupt, which I wasn’t expecting.

This one also showed a lot more of the pack and how they have changed. I did get mad at them in this book because of how they were acting around Christy, but she is a very manipulative woman and had years to affect the pack. I was very surprised by Honey in this book and love that she is actually supporting Mercy now. She also shows the pack that they are better with Mercy in it. I do hate that Mercy is still trying to prove herself to them but they are starting to get better.

We also get some new characters in this one and some cameos from other characters. I love Coyote and his chaos. I definitely can’t wait to see what he does next in this series. I am very interested in learning more about Gary now too, especially since he has a potentially helpful ability. Mercy also gets a visit from Alistair Beauclair, a Fae who was introduced in the Alpha & Omega series. He wants the return of the walking stick and is very pushy about it. We also got to see Tad fight again, which I really enjoyed. I really want to know more about him and his father. And of course, Stephan makes a brief appearance. I really like Stephan and I am really glad to see that he is doing better now.

This was just another great addition to the series. I love that we are still getting new paranormals in this world. I am always excited to see what new things will be revealed next.

Trigger warnings: death, domestic violence, stalking, death of multiple dogs
