5 out of 5 stars
5 stars – I loved it!

Trigger Warnings: rape (ch. 11), abuse, brief mention of child sexual abuse, murder, blood and gore

It’s been a month since the events in the previous book. Everyone is recovering and Mercy is trying to keep her head down again. But, when Zee ask her to look into some Fae murders she finds herself back in danger.

This book always leaves me very emotional, even after rereading it multiple times. Mercy is her usual courageous self and is determined to help find this Fae killer. It leads her to make some enemies with the fae and make Zee very upset at her. She never gives up though, even when the worst is happening to her. I hate that Briggs has Mercy raped but I am glad that it wasn’t a detailed rape. That would have probably caused me to continuously skip that chapter every time I read this book.

The hunt for the Fae killer was a very interesting chase. I enjoyed learning more about the Fae and their artifacts. The artifacts are quite interesting and I am sure they will pop up more in the future, especially the walking stick that seems to like Mercy. The new Fae we meet are also very interesting and dangerous. I am sure they will pop up in the future. We also finally get to see Zee without his glamor and now I really want to see him in an actual fight with his swords.

This book does end with a cliffhanger on the relationship between Mercy and Adam. While I hate that we have a cliffhanger, I do like the fact it’s about the romance and not the actual threat that happened in this book. Those are worse for me. Also, with each book I find myself liking Ben even more. I love a rude and terrible character that can be redeemed.

Overall, this was another action packed adventure for Mercy. I can’t wait to continue my reread and see what else I have forgotten.
