3 stars – I liked it

Aegis slayer Andrea Cole hunts without mercy but when her fellow slayer, and boyfriend, is captured and turned into a vampire she has to reassess her views.

This was a great novella. Andrea and Kaden are brand new characters to this series and this is pretty self-contained so you don’t necessarily need to read the previous books.

Andrea has spent the past few years being a dedicated hunter. Kaden’s capture changes everything for her. She has to determine if she is going to kill him or kiss him. Kaden has been tortured and turned against his will but still doesn’t want to die. These two have a very intense time trying to decide if they die and give up or live and fight.

I really enjoyed this very short and intense story for these two. Both Andrea and Kaden have to reassess their views on demons and vampires. I enjoyed that you could feel how intense their feelings were for each other. I do like that we get a brief glimpse of their future.

Overall, I really enjoyed this, especially for how short it was. While this doesn’t directly impact the overarching story for this series, I do wonder if these two will appear in future books.
