5 stars – I loved it!

Trigger Warnings: references to bullying, homophobic slurs used by another character

This is chapter 3 from the webcomic.

This volume picks up right where the previous one left off. Charlie and Nick have just shared their first kiss and they are both thinking the worst is going to happen with their relationship.

This was a very emotional continuation of Nick and Charlie’s story. Nick has realized he is bisexual and admits to his feelings for Charlie. He is still struggling with the thought of coming out but at the same time is tired of hiding who he is. This was a very emotional time for Nick. I loved his mother though and how supportive she was.

Charlie is trying to hid how much he is attracted to Nick because of his fear of the relationship falling apart like his previous one with Ben. Charlie is still constantly doubting himself but Nick is always there to push through his spirals. I love how these two support each other and get through their fears together. It just makes them a great couple with a very strong friendship.

This volume really brought out all the feels for me. I loved seeing these two fall in love. Also I love the introduction of Darcy and Tara, who are also a very cute couple.

  1. Thanks for writing a review! I hesitate to watch the series because I think the “secret relationship” trope triggers me more than it does most people. What did you think, do the healthy outweigh the unhealthy relationships in this story?

    1. Outside of the very beginning of book one where Charlie is in a toxic secret relationship, Charlie and Nick’s relationship is very healthy. It’s only secret because Nick is trying to figure himself out and isn’t ready to come out yet.
