4 stars – It was really good

This story was previously published in the Hex on the Beach anthology.

Cat is struggling in her new role as a mother. So Bones suggests she take a girls only vacation with her friend Denise. Instead of a peaceful break, they have a run in with vampire witches who are performing a solstice ritual.

It was so nice to get another Cat story. I missed her and her dangerous shenanigans. Cat and Denise are a pretty interesting team. I would totally read more about their adventures because these two are definitely trouble magnets. They did a pretty good job at trying to defeat these vampire witches. I do like that Bones and Spade did play a part in it because you know they can’t stay away from their wives.

Cat and Katie’s relationship is briefly discussed in this. It was very heartbreaking hearing Katie’s trauma but Cat really does a wonderful job with her. I love that we are seeing Cat and Bones as parents, and that their daughter isn’t normal. Because, let’s face it, neither are they.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novella. I would love to see more novella’s in the future that give us a glimpse at the couples. I also enjoyed that we got to see Ashael again in this. I am really loving that demon and hope he gets his own book one day.
